sugar free buttercream icing
Whether you're decorating cupcakes or creating a layered cake... this butter cream icing is a favourite here for adding some decadence to your baked treats. Enjoy this delicious, smooth flavoured icing without the sugar high!
ingredients
You will need
- 180 g Fine powdered Xylitol
- 20 g Corn or tapioca starch
- 200 g Soft butter
- ½ tsp Vanilla extract
- Pinch of salt
- 1-2 tbsp Milk (optional)
- Electric mixer
method
Combine the Fine powdered Xylitol (this should be sieved for best result) with tapioca or corn starch. In a separate mixing bowl.
Mix
- In a mixing bowl, add soft butter, vanilla and a pinch of salt.
- Using an electric mixer, beat with a beater or paddle attachment on low speed for 1 minute. Until the butter starts to lighten in colour then increase speed to medium until butter become light and fluffy.
- Slowly add in Xylitol icing mixture to the butter on medium speed until all of the icing mixture is combined with the butter.
- Scrape down sides of mixing bowl and mix on medium to high speed until buttercream is light, fluffy, and smooth.
- Add in milk while mixing for a softer consistency buttercream.
- Colours and flavours can also be added during this step as required.
Note: This icing recipe is not suitable for pets as it contains Xylitol.
